Discover Your True Learning Potential Workshop

This workshop I attended was a very enjoyable one. Aunty Maggie was the one who taught us. There, we learn how to study in our own unique way. At first, each and everyone of us had to do an analysis. The questions are super hard!! I have to answer them fast without thinking. These are the results of the analysis.

BRAIN STYLE:
Holistic information processing
(Explains why I always ask questions)
I need the overview first before I can start learning. I also need to know the reasons for doing it. Most of the time I don’t want to be bothered with details-prefer knowing the big picture.
Reflective (takes a long time to get work done)
I like to take my time thinking about an assignment before tackling it. When I’m rushed or under pressure, I cannot think clearly.

SENSES:
Self-talk (auditory - internal)
Yea, agree...always talking to myself...in my head
I find it much easier to concentrate or learn when I can have an inner dialogue about the new material. My overall understanding increases and my memory improves with such self-discussions.
Watching (visual - external)(don't expect me to know exactly what you TELL me, SHOW me)
Looking at things, watching what's going on and absorbing what I see is very important for my learning success. I need to see how things are done.
Imagination (visual - internal)so if u c me laughing non-stop or for no reason I am My understanding of new material increases when I visualise what I’ve seen, heard, read or done.
Tactile
Handling study aids helps me concentrate. When I learn, read or concentrate, I really like to involve my hands. I also enjoy making things for school projects and I often fiddle with pens or other things.
Kinesthetic (action, doing/experiencing)
I learn best through physical experiences and love learning situations that require practical involvement. To remember and understand I need to be active with my body.
Kinesthetic (internal/intuition)
I rely on my intuition or gut feeling during the learning process. For best results, I need to feel good about the things I study.

CLASSROOM AND HOME:
Quiet

I need a very quiet environment while studying or reading because even slight noises tend to disrupt my concentration.
Cool temperature I like to study in cooler temperatures. If I’m too warm, I feel uneasy and find it difficult to learn and concentrate.

SOCIAL:
Peers

I prefer to work or learn with like-minded students. My study performance is best when I can exchange ideas or solve problems with a peer group.

Continuation of Mission Trip

hah... so long didn't update...
It's a gud thing I've written what had happen during mission trip.... but you know what? I've lost the book...arghhh I keep on losing important stuff.... like IC, handphone, my lovale pen which has my name on it, my earing, necklace, my sis's watch!! arghh feel bad... my cat(bluff cat)-ended up in my best friend's house. I am very FORGETFUL... arghhh!!!

Ok summary for the mission trip: It was so nice there. I've learn alot from those kids. Most of them got flu there.... there's one boy bout 3 yrs old.... his eyes got dunno what problem. His mother is mute, at first me and Rach thought she was crazy... coz once she hold the parang up in the air... so scary!! Hahahaha summore Rach can ask me to don't look at her, fearing she might come chasing after you!! Hahahaha... funny experience... we walked as fast as we could when we walked pass by her. Ok this boy-only child the women got. The rest of her children died. I dunno whats the cause. So... this boy got flu n eye problem. When it comes to eating time, saw this boy's nose got cendol, long-long cendol from his nose... so I took the tissue and wiped(I don't usually do this for people). And i turn the tissue over and looked!! Ewwww, ewwww -I almost vomitted!!! The moken lady who was watching me laughed at me...haiz.... That was the last day/second last day of the trip.

The next day I got flu and fever. Got no appetite to eat. Somemore went to super nice buffet dinner in Phuket. Cannot enjoy the food cause always feeling very full although never eat. After dinner we went shopping!! Bought 3 earings. Then the next day, last day in Thailand, went shopping again. Bought 2 billabong shirts and one white skirt. Oh! our McD nicer than theirs!! WUHUU bangga!! Malaysia Boleh!! Then we went back to Malaysia!! Yes! so good to be back in your own country... where you can understand what people is talking.

Mission Trip is the best!! Wanna go again this year.... What if this year Youth and Young adults go? It will be so fun!! For those who are curious where we stay in... no we didn't stay with the people on the island, but in a chalet like that. Everyday go eat outside and buy breakfast from 7/11. Oh hahaha their ATM machine got music!! Wonder what is that for? To calm down people when they take out their cash?

2nd day of Mission Trip

23 Nov 06

In the morning Ps Sien-The Ranong Full Gospel Church Pastor brought us to the Jeti. The Jeti very smelly... The Thai teachers went with us to Koh Lhao Island by boat. Their names are Neng, Boi, and 2 ladies I forgot their names already... Saw Myanmar and Burma on the way to the island. Before we land...whoa the Moken children rush out to the jeti with their smiling faces... so cute! Felt so welcome by them.

The boat we sat on (the first day).
Mum protecting herself with the pink shield from the watery darts, Carene and Cathy posing to take pics, me looking at them, Rach smiling at the camera.

Saw so many boats called Siam Johnathan
(meaning: "Ah-Jon!! siam! siam! siam!")

There was this new church building where the kids have their daily sunday schools. Last year didn't have that new building. When the door of that church opened... all of them ran in shouting "Yaaayyyy!!...."They arrange all the chairs so fast sia... straight away come in arrage already. They are so young and are so kuai. Not like my church's Sunday School kids... no initiative to arrange the chairs and not excited to come for Sunday School. We gave each of them name tags so we can call them by name. There's a small, lil, tiny girl whose name is Malaysia... cool ha? She loves to be carried and loves attention. If not she will cry. At the island the mothers leave the younger child for the older child to take care. So some of the children there got not much love from their parents. The children really take good care of their younger sibs. Some bout 8 yrs old to 10 yrs old carried their lil sibs when they cry, wipe nose cendol for them and wipe it on the window pane, door, wall.... eeewww...cannot tahan. Really touched by their careness for their sibs.

their houses , fisherman boats and doggie!!

Game thay played. Who loose kena powder on the face.

First they have their Praise and Worship with Neng as their guitarist. We teached the kids how to make paper tambourine. They like it very much! Then Cathy, Rach and me taught them a few tambourine steps. They all enjoyed it! Since I was the only one who didn't make paper tambourine and the only one who brought a real tambourine to that island... I played the real one and everybody else played the paper tambourine with beans in it. So kekok.

The kids playing the paper tambourine they had made.

Aunty Chiew Hong taught them to wash hands before eating. After lunch the kids shampoo themselves and.... jump into the sea...-dirty brown sea which equals to not bathing at all. After "bath" they brush their teeth! With clean water. Got improvement already. Last time they didn't bathe or brush teeth one. Last year the misson team taught them to brush teeth and they still practice it. Thanks to the Thai teachers who always do their job and keep an eye on the children. They still wear the same dirty clothes after they bathe...so we decided that we bring the old clothes for them the next day. We took the tuk-tuk back to the hotel. Aunty Esther forget to bring the stool back also called the "throne".(we use to climb in and out of the boat to prevent us from getting wet.)She left it at the Jeti. For dinner we went to eat at mamak stall again. I ate noodle soup, pulut rice 4 dessert(very nice) :)and all 10 of us share a bowl a Tong Shui with frog eggs inside. We bought a red stool to replace the green stool that was lost after dinner. Aunty Esther very funnyla...

Mission Trip

22 Nov 06
Yes! I finally get to sit aeroplane!! Yei!! Go Thailand for Mission Trip!! Carene, My mum, Ps Janice, Aunty Chiew Hong, Aunty Suzanne, Aunty Esther, Aunty Mary, Cathy, Rachel and Me started our journey from church. Then we went airport... took our lunch just outside the toilet...haih...no other place to eat. I get to sit beside the window in the airplane...ah so nice the view. The sea got alot of sand in it. The further sea very blue. Nice blue sea and not brown-brown ones. It only took 40 minutes to reach Phuket.Aiyo the ear so pain when the plane descend....

View from airplane-first time see...

Then we took a van to Ranong. The Thai church people arranged for us. Its very big and nice. You can stand inside.
Got curtains and tv also...and it cost(cough, cough)9000baht!=RM 900 plus the jip tht carried our luggage. And it took 5 hours to reach Ranong! So long... wish can sit aeroplane again. I sat at the back of the van. The journey ah... so bumpy cannot even sleep just manage to close eyes only. But about 1 and a half hours later i fell asleep before we reach Casa Theresa Inn(the place we stay) cause too tired already. The song "I will be right here waiting for you"sang by a man played just before I slept then when I woke up the same song played. Only difference is it is sang by a women.

At Casa Theresa... Got alot of statues everywhere. By the way, the owner there is a Catholic but put up alot of buddhist statues to make it a thai-like environment.

Ranong looks like Melaka's Jalan Bunga Raya but Melaka's one nicer. Then for dinner we ate at a mamak stall. A Thai ant welcomed me there by injecting its asid in my right feet. So pain and itchy. Put 'hong yu'. I ate bihun sup while most of them ate glass noodle(transparent in colour). After that went back to the hotel after buying water and breakfast at 7 eleven.

Rach, me and Cat at the Casa Theresa.

on the swing!!

on the way back, we found MioW!! Siam cat!!
